BAY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY COMMUTER BI- LEVEL

THE Massachusetts Bay Transportatio Authority HAS RECEIVED 107
KAWASAKI CARS SINCE 1991.
And according to Anna Barry,
they're the most popular cars on the line. The system has doubled
its ridership in the last 10 years - Kawasaki bi-level cars
have helped to alleviate a serious capacity problem. "For us,"
Barry says, "they're the workhorse of the system . . . people
clamor for them." To the riders, the cars are more than hardworking
- they're extremely comfortable. The ride is smooth, seats are
wide, and tables between center seats allow commuters to work
en route. The car's quality has resulted in low maintenance
and infrequent breakdowns, increasing the MBTA line's efficiency
and keeping customers moving. Overall, the Kawasaki bi-levels
have been a huge success for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation
Authority. "The capacity is number one, the appearance is very
popular and the functionality is very high," Barry says. "It's
a very well-riding car."
