The New York
City Transit System may be one of the World’s most challenging,
due to its high Volume of passengers looking for reliable, safe and
comfortable daily transportation. Kawasaki’s R142A subway cars
are some of the most technologically advanced cars in the system,
applying world-renowned Kawasaki engineering to meet and exceed
NYC riders' needs.
There are now 520 R142A cars on the
NYCT system. Each shows Kawaski's innovation as well as attention
to customer's needs, with special features including automatic
announcements, electronic visual messages, a passenger emergency
intercom system and wider doorways to enhance rider safety and
comfort. Passenger feedback says riders are as pleased with
the cars as the NYC transit authorities.
In addition, an advanced monitoring
and diagnostics system helps the train operator safely and efficiently
run and monitor all vital trainline systems. The result is an
important one- maintenance is low and the cars rarely break
down.
